In recent years, vaping has become a popular alternative to smoking cigarettes. While many people believe that vaping is a safer alternative, research has shown that it may not be as safe as people think. Vaping has been linked to various health problems, including lung damage, heart disease, and even death. This has led to a rise in interest in quitting vaping, and hypnotherapy has emerged as a potential solution.

It goes without saying that vaping is helping people to quit smoking cigarettes, which is a significant step forward in the fight against smoking-related diseases, one that unfortunately still panders to peoples need for the addictive drug in cigarettes: nicotine. It is also important to note that vaping is encouraging children to become addicted to nicotine at much earlier ages then were seen in children who use cigarettes. The flavours used in e-cigarettes can be particularly appealing to young people, and the addictive nature of nicotine can quickly turn a one-time experiment into a long-term addiction. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), e-cigarette use among high school students in the US increased from 1.5% in 2011 to 27.5% in 2019. In the UK, the rates rose from 6% in 2018 to 9% in 2021. And there are concerns that vaping may act as a gateway to cigarette smoking for people who have never smoked before. Only time and statistics will tell.

The harm from vaping is a ticking time bomb waiting to go off. While research is still ongoing, the long-term effects of vaping on the body are still unknown. It is possible that vaping may lead to serious health problems down the road. The constant ‘topping up’ behaviours where people regularly take a puff from their e-cigarette (even during the night) means that there are potentially consistently higher levels of nicotine in their body as compared to those seen in cigarette smokers. This is especially concerning within young people, as nicotine addiction can cause long-term damage to the developing brain. This makes it all the more important to quit sooner rather than later.

Hypnotherapy has shown promise in helping people quit vaping. By accessing the unconscious mind, hypnotherapy can help individuals overcome the addiction and challenge the cravings associated with vaping. Through hypnosis, people can develop a new mindset that promotes healthier habits and choices. Hypnotherapy can also help people identify and address any underlying emotional issues that may be contributing to their addiction.

According to a study published in the International Journal of Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis, hypnotherapy is an effective tool for smoking cessation. The study found that smokers who underwent hypnotherapy were more likely to quit smoking than those who did not. This suggests that hypnotherapy will also be useful for quitting vaping as they share similar aspects, namely addiction and smoking-related behaviours.

What is apparent, vaping is not as safe as people believe, and it is important to quit as soon as possible to avoid potential long-term health risks. Remember, back in the day the medical profession used to endorse smoking and we all know how that turned out. Hypnotherapy is certainly a promising tool for quitting vaping, one that individuals can use to help overcome their addiction and lead a healthier, happier life.
